How to set up Apple Pay

Setting up Apple Pay is a straightforward process. Here are the steps you need to follow to set it up on your iPhone:

1. Ensure Your Device is Compatible

Apple Pay is available on iPhone 6 and later, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3 and later, and Apple Watch.

2. Update to the Latest iOS

Make sure your device is running the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.

3. Add a Card to Apple Wallet

On iPhone:

  • Open the Wallet app.
  • Tap the + button in the upper-right corner.
  • Follow the prompts to add a new card.
  • You can use your device’s camera to capture your card information or enter it manually.
  • Follow the verification steps with your bank or card issuer. This might involve a phone call, text message, or email.

On iPad:

  • Go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay.
  • Tap Add Card.
  • Follow the same steps as you would on an iPhone.

On Apple Watch:

  • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  • Go to the My Watch tab.
  • Tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
  • Tap Add Card and follow the prompts.

4. Verify Your Card

After adding your card, your bank or card issuer will verify your information and decide if you can use your card with Apple Pay. They might ask for more information to complete the verification process.

5. Set Your Default Card (Optional)

You can choose which card to set as your default for payments. Go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, then tap Default Card and choose the card you want to use.

6. Start Using Apple Pay

Once your card is verified, you can start using Apple Pay in stores, apps, and on websites.

Using Apple Pay in Stores:

With Face ID: Double-click the side button, glance at your iPhone to authenticate with Face ID, then hold the top of your iPhone near the contactless reader.

With Touch ID: Rest your finger on Touch ID, then hold the top of your iPhone near the contactless reader.

With Apple Watch: Double-click the side button and hold the display of your Apple Watch near the contactless reader.

Using Apple Pay in Apps and on Websites:

Tap the Apple Pay button during checkout.

 

Important note: Always check your billing, shipping, and contact information to make sure they're correct.

Confirm the payment using Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.

By following these steps, you'll have Apple Pay set up and ready to use on your device.
